Like many others in the antivirus world I’m in love with Corona. It’s a free antivirus app for Android and Windows that aims to protect mobile devices against malicious apps and websites. My opinion about Corona is quite strong. It gets close to some of the features found in the paid anti-virus apps for Android, it has pretty good detection rates and its interface makes navigating the app pretty smooth.
VirusLab believes that its VirusScanner is one of the best virus scanners out there.
Last month we told you that VirusLab detected almost 40 unique malware strains for Android. By my math that means VirusScanner detected 99.9% of the malware strains detected by VirusLab’s other anti-virus apps for Android. All this in less than two months. That’s a pretty crazy statistic, right?
We have to point out, however, that although VirusScanner gets close to VirusLab’s other anti-virus apps for Android, VirusScanner is free for only a month. After that, if you want to keep using VirusScanner you have to pay $1.99.
The free version is a bit strange though. VirusScanner is compatible with devices running Android 4.0.3 or later, while its paid counterparts are compatible with devices running Android 4.2 or later.
